It’s that time of the year when we announce the next host city to Croatia’s annual WordCamp. So, without further ado, we’d like to welcome you to our capital – Zagreb. WordCamp Zagreb will be the third one and so far the largest WordCamp in Croatia with 300 attendees. Save the date in your calendar – September 1–3, 2017!
When Croatian community organised its first WordCamp (then being called WordCamp Croatia), we decided to rotate the city each year. After two successful events in Rijeka and Split, we are happy to host the next WordCamp in the city of Zagreb – capital of Croatia. Aiming for 300 attendees, with three days of content (workshops, conference day and contributor day) we are confident this will help the Croatian WordPress community grow even further. On that note, if you are in Zagreb in May, visit the last meetup before summer break and WordCamp Zagreb.
From the beginning we heard questions like “why you didn’t do a WordCamp in Zagreb sooner”. To be honest, it was a community decision to promote WordPress (and everything WordPress and its community stand for) in other cities first, and as both Rijeka and Split proved a giant success, we knew we were on the right path.
Zagreb – a modern Central-European capital
Welcome to Zagreb – a city with a million hearts. It illustrates both the continental and Mediterranean spirit of the nation it spearheads. Zagreb is the cultural, scientific, economic, political and administrative centre of the Republic of Croatia, and is home to the Croatian Parliament, Government and President.
Zagreb is a safe city whose doors are always open; a city with a tumultuous history teeming with interesting personalities. The façades of Zagreb’s buildings reflect the ebb and flow of history, while its streets and squares bear witness to the coming together of the many cultures that have shaped the identity of this laid-back capital.
Empowering venue – Musem of Contemporary Arts
Although we are still to confirm the workshop and Contributor day venue, we are happy to announce that the Conference day will take place at the beautiful Museum of Contemporary Arts. As one of the most prominent Croatian museums, we see it as a perfect venue that will help us to express and share our ideas and be inclusive to everyone.
Why attend WordCamp Zagreb?
It will be a three-day event (September 1–3), starting with free workshops on Friday, the conference day on Saturday, and a Contributor day on Sunday. We will end our WordCamp with our traditional walking tour.
WordCamp Zagreb is the official Croatian WordCamp in 2017 and since past WordCamps got such a big attendee satisfaction rating of 95% (of which on both WordCamps 85% gave us five stars – thank you, you rock!), we believe we will continue the tradition. WordCamps give you a perfect opportunity to meet people that work and live WordPress. On both past WordCamps, we had around 20% of people who visited us outside Croatia, so this is also an opportunity for new business leads.
With a wide array of partners, sponsors and organisers working hard to bring you another great WordCamp in Croatia – we are hoping you will support our community by reserving your ticket, sponsoring or applying to talk – or by volunteering.
