Ivelina Dimova will show you that debugging can be lots of fun

Ivelina Dimova will talk about advanced debugging in her first ever visit to Croatia. We talked with her about her work, her talk and her travel experiences.

Ivelina Dimova is a well–known name in the WordPress world. She spoke on numerous WordCamps, including a few WordCamps Europe but she has never been to Croatia – until now. Her talk about advanced debugging is probably one of those talks that developers want to hear, so without further ado – let us introduce Ivelina.

New impressions are very important to keep the creativity in work

Hey Ivelina. How are you doing today?

Hey, I am doing pretty well actually, working on some presentations and learning new tools on a rainy Sunday afternoon.

So, you are coming from Bulgaria, but actually, you are all over the world. Can you tell us more about yourself?

I am working as a Senior WordPress developer at Crowd Favorite – boutique WordPress agency based in US. We are all working remotely which allows me to travel a lot, one of my main interests. Except developing WordPress projects, I am pretty passionate about yoga, photography, hiking, reading an interesting book, listening to live music and much more.

You love to travel. Why is travelling so important to you?

Yes, I adore travelling, visiting new places, meeting new people, learning more and more about different cultures and lifestyles. All these new impressions are very important to keep the creativity in work in my opinion. It also makes me feel free and opens my mind to new ideas, let’s me get some rest on the road. There is no better rest that the quietness of a few hours on a plane with great views and a new book.

You shouldn’t imagine that traveling is only “working from the beach”

How do you work when travelling, got any tips for our readers?

I won’t lie – sometimes it is hard to work and travel, sometimes you need to make git commits from the airport and write presentations during the flights. If you imagine you will work from the beach with a cocktail in hand – it doesn’t really happen like this. But when you love something, you work for it, right? If you know your daily schedule with meetings and tasks, you can accommodate to work around trips and do it from hotels, coffee shops, trains. Usually all I need is internet, my charger and headphones. For example, I just spent a whole week working from a tent in the mountains, to escape the summer heat in the city. Hotspot, charger, coffee and I am all good to work.

Traveling is very important to Ivelina as she said to us that all these new impressions are very important to keep the creativity in (her) work. (Left photo was shoot in Bali, and the right one on the island of Santorini in Greece)

Debugging can be lots of fun

Will this be your first trip to Zagreb and/or Croatia? What are your expectations?

Yes, this will be my first trip to Croatia, but I’ve heard lots of amazing things from my friends about it, so I expect it to be gorgeous and welcome place. I am sure we will have a great and productive WordCamp!

In Zagreb, you will talk about advanced debugging. This is not a new topic to you as you gave so many development talks on many WordCamps. How important is debugging and what can our audience expect to learn listening to you?

As a friend once said, I am fixer – I love fixing things may be even more than building them. I love debugging problems and I have lots of experience with different projects. Debugging can be lots of fun when you know how not to panic and find a pattern. So I hope I can make the other people as enthusiastic as I am about fixing bugs, it’s an amazing satisfaction.
